Best for sensitive skin: Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream
If you have easily irritated and sensitive skin, finding the right skincare for you can be difficult. A good place to start is Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream. Don’t let the name scare you, this is a color-corrective moisturizer to help soothe the skin while reducing the appearance of redness for a brighter and more even complexion. This product is infused with plant extracts with restorative functions such as Raspberry Leaf Extract and Houttuynia Cordata to help the skin’s natural barrier against environmental stressors.
Best for acne-prone skin: COSRX Original Clear Pad
You may or may not have heard of the brand COSRX but back in Korea, it’s one of the leading skincare brands. Their signature Original Clear Pad is a staple for most Koreans. The pads are soaked in toner solution which helps effectively remove dead skin and whiteheads allowing your skin to feel smoother and fresher. Simply wipe the pad when you wake up and you’re ready to apply makeup or even leave the house feeling more confident in your skin.
Best for brightening: Dr. G Brightening Peeling Gel
Another local favorite K-beauty item is Dr. G Brightening Peeling Gel – we’re starting to see a pattern here, we think having Dr. as the brand name makes us trust the product even more. But regardless, this is a must-have item in all Korean drugstores. This product is satisfying to use just as much it is gross. When you squeeze the product out it is of gel texture but as you massage it to the skin, you’ll notice the gel create a pilling effect. That’s how you know you’re getting all the gunk out of the skin.
Best for dry skin: Belief The True Cream – Aqua Bomb
You may have walked past the brand Belief in department stores or duty-free at the airport, while it’s not an obvious K-beauty product, it is very much hyped about. In Korea, this cream is also known as the stewardess cream. It was named after for its popularity amongst the cabin crew as it can leave your skin pleasantly moisturized (not in a greasy kind of way) for even long-haul flights. You better get your hands on one quick to join the bandwagon.
Best for lip Care: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
You don’t need to be Korean to know about this product. You’ve probably seen it everywhere! In Korean drugstores but also in Hong Kong too! Mixed with Vitamin C-rich Berry Mix Complex, the formula diffuses into your skin to make dry and rough lips smooth and supple. Simply apply a liberal amount to your lips before bed to wake up with smooth glossy perky lips!
