Just as we enter the tip of Autumn, the 2021 New York Fashion Week extended the Spring/Summer season with its preview of S/S 2022 Summer vibes and cool trendy wear in September. Following along, the Milan Fashion Week housed many upcoming fashion talents alongside big labels such as Gucci, Fendi and Versace. The week after, Paris Fashion week showcased collections by major fashion Maisons such as Christian Dior, Balenciaga, and Louis Vuitton. While it’s starting to get chilly here in Hong Kong, it’s never too late to prepare for next year’s Spring trends. We list 5 style takeaways straight from the runways of Fashion Week.

Crochet

Playing it up with texture, crochet was a present theme on the runways. Whether it be a bag, a top or a vest, crocheted pieces, the 2021 fashion week proved how versatile this patterning is. Wear it on its own or layered over suits, this knitted pattern presents a feminine yet chic touch to your silhouette.

Cardigan

In previous seasons, oversizing fashion pieces were trendy. Think bigger and baggier – sweaters, cardigans, joggers, everything! But this season, designers took an alternative approach in incorporating cardigans that share less of the limelight and as a more understated piece. With mini cardigans, it definitely brought back the retro 90’s vibe for us.

Gingham

We love that the Gingham was a major feature in the runway. The fun in the pattern all comes down to the pattern. In this year’s fashion week, we saw a lot of bright pinks and yellows but also classic and simple black and white Gingham patterns too. We can predict that this trend will not only limit itself to Spring and Summer but also in the cooler weathers!

White

Everyone loves a clean and basic statement white outfit pieces, but not as much as this year’s fashion week. With the likes of maxi dresses floating down the Fendi runway and white two-piece paired at Jil Sander and crisp white skirt suit at Erdem shows, 2021 Fashion week just proved you can never go wrong with simple monochrome colors.

Bralette Tops

Minimalist bralettes took over the runways at Coach and Fendi. Paired with a power suit, it’s the ultimate badass female rocker look with an added chicness and sophistication. While this bold look can be daring to wear on the daily, the runways taught us that pairing the top with fuller coverage pieces like suits, pleated skirts and jackets can give your look an overall more subtle vibe.
